Fall Fun 2011

I LOVE fall, and this year I took advantage of the warm weather we have been having and did as much outdoors as possible. I also love traditions, and every fall I enjoy going to pick out pumpkins at a pumpkin patch, going to Gardner Village to see the witches, going to Cornbelly's at Thanksgiving Point, and enjoying all the fall colors at Wheeler Farm. I am happy to say that this year I did it all and we had a blast!

Logan was so excited to play football for the first time this year, and the best part was Uncle Scott and our good friend Justin were going to be his coaches, and they come with tons of experience! What fun to go and watch them and to see them improve week after week! Next year will be the first year for tackle football and the teams better watch out for Logan who has no fear! Now if we can only convince Scott and Justin to coach!

Lake Powell

To celebrate the end of warm weather, and a very short summer, I took the boys down to Lake Powell with my sister and family for a minivacation. I had never been down there before, and can honestly say it is one of my favorite places to go. The boys had so much fun boating, tubing, swimming, and hunting for reptiles, and I actually did some relaxing, and even learned how to surf! I am already looking forward to next year and our next trip down there!

Finally we are out of hibernation and we've started to enjoy some warm spring weather! This has been the longest winter and have felt it was never going to end. It's been a hard few months for me, ending with the death of my stepfather and Grandpa "K" to Logan and Sawyer. Words cannot describe what I am going through. I have peace knowing that he is in heaven and we will all be together again someday!

Winter activities

I'm so behind on my blog, I decided to combine these last few months into one post. I've tried to keep busy these long winter months. Of course Logan competed in the indoor bmx racing season, and advanced to the expert level in his age group, a huge accomplishment for just racing one year. The outdoor season starts in May, so he's busy working out and getting strong for that to start. I have signed up Sawyer to play outdoor soccer which will start in April so I'm excited to have him in something that we can cheer him on for a change! Logan is currently off track at school, which means I'm trying to find ways to keep both boys occupied so they don't fight with each other all day long! We've gone to the dinosaur museum with cousins, the aquarium to see the penquins, and Classic Fun Center. I'm planning a quick trip to Vegas next week for a few days to "babysit" some dogs while my parents go to California for my sisters wedding. Lots of big changes in my future, so I am just trying to stay focused on what is important to me and what really makes me happy and that is spending time with my boys!

The Christmas season

This time of year is always busy, and this year was no exception. Logan was off from school the whole month of December, which made it hard for me to go shopping, but we were able to do some fun things together. We went to a movie, saw Santa, baked cookies, and spent alot of time with family. This time of year is so special, especially when you get to share it with your children!

This year for Thanksgiving, we went over to my sister's house. My mom and Stan were able to come up from Las Vegas to spend some time up here since Stan had finished his first round of chemo and had a week or two off before having to start radiation. The dinner was great, and I love spending time with my family!

Both Logan and Sawyer have had a birthday and are now seven and four years old! I can remember the days they were born like it was yesterday, every detail and moment, and hope that I will never forget. The years are just flying by, and although I love seeing them grow up and learn new things, I get sad every year because I realize they are growing up and you only get to do this once and I need to hold onto every moment and memory so that years down the road I will remember what it was like when they were young. This year, I had a combined birthday party for both of them at Classic Fun Center, where they enjoyed riding scooters, climbing and jumping on the blowups, and shooting balls at each other. They had so much fun with their family and friends, and received tons of new toys to play with. Happy Birthday boys, I love you both so much!!!

Halloween this year included a party and parade at school, trick-or treating in the rain, and a fun get-together with friends afterwards at our house! This was the first year that I didn't go out with the boys, but I must admit I enjoyed passing out all the candy with Enzo and looking at all the creative and cute costumes the kids had on. Because of the weather, the boys didn't go out for as long as they usually do, which is a good thing because I usually end up throwing most of their candy away. Sawyer loved being Optimus Prime, and actually wore his costume daily the week prior to Halloween, so much so that I bought him a Bumblebee costume for his birthday. Logan loves being anything scary, and I agreed to let him be a skate pumk zombie, the least scary/gory/evil costume I could find that he liked also. We all had fun Halloween night after trick-or-treating dancing to Wii Dance with our neighbors and friends. The "sugar" kept everyone going for hours!

Pumpkin Patch

I love going to the pumpkin patch with the boys to pick out their pumpkins. The place we go to has tractors for the boys to climb on, a corn maze, and of course hundreds of pumpkins to choose from. This year I chose some unusual pumpkins, one is all white (for Enzo),and one has what looks like warts all over it (for Anthony), and I even found an all green/gray one which Logan wanted. This is such a fun tradition, our third year going, and I look forward to it every year!

BMX Redline Cup Race

We all went down to Las Vegas last week so Logan could compete in his first big race, the Redline Cup Championship. Unfortunately, the whole family came down with a bad cold and cough the whole week, including Logan who gets asthma when he is sick and can't breath~it's terrible when you're trying to compete and you need to use your inhaler before each race! The first day he raced against 45 other six-year old intermediates and was able to finish fourth! The following day, he made it to the semi's where the first four would make it to the finals, and he finished fifth~right behind the fourth place kid! He was so upset and disappointed, but we were so proud of him for accomplishing what he did because there were kids from all over the country there and the competition was fierce. He gave it his all, and even though he didn't feel well he never gave up. It was a great experience for all of us and we're looking forward to starting our indoor bmx season next week. The best part of being down in Vegas was we were able to spend a little time with Gma and Gpa K who we haven't seen in months. Gpa looked so good, after having a major surgery in June where they removed a thirty pound tumor from his abdomen, and he is currently receiving chemo treatments weekly. Poor Logan had to wear a mask so that Gpa wouldn't catch his cold. The boys love it at their house, and are definitely spoiled when they are there. We were also able to "run into" the Vincents who were on their way to Disneyland. The boys were so surprised to see them and they all had fun running around the MGM and M&M factory on the strip. We had a fun week, but it was so nice to be back home and back into the routine of our lives!

Cornbellies

We took advantage of the beautiful weather last weekend and took the boys to cornbellies at Thanksgiving Point. We invited Gma Trudi to come along with us since she had never been. We missed last year because of the swine flu and weather, I was so impressed with all the changes they had done. There were so many fun things to see and do, and it was such a warm day we were able to take our time and see everything! We watched pig races, mined for rocks, raced gocarts, Logan rode a bull, and I even gathered the nerve to walk through the haunted monster. What a fun way to get ready for fall and Halloween, we all had a blast!

We made it through September without having any cold weather!!! I'm so glad I was able to do some fun fall activites with the boys while Logan was off track. I know cooler weather will come in October, I just hope the snow will wait a little while longer!

The Zoo!

I haven't been to the zoo in about a year or so, and was so impressed with all the changes that had been made. I felt we were able to get so much closer to the animals, and their exhibits were much more larger and more like what they would experience in the wild. Our favorites were the gorillas, tigers, leopards, and rhino, and we were so close we could almost touch them, if it wasn't for the glass. All our kids love animals, but I think little Kensley had the most fun looking at everything!

The Witches at Gardner Village

Taking advantage of this beautiful fall weather, I wanted to go and check out the witches on display at Gardner Village. This is another favorite activity of mine to do in the fall, and the boys have fun looking at all the silly witches they have around. We met my sister there with her kids, minus Maddox who was in school. We ended the tour with a special treat from the bakery, a ghoulish brownie and pumpkin cupcake!

Fire in Herriman!

We came home from the cabin relaxed and ready for another week, when we see that our mountain behind our house is on fire and our neighborhood is being evacuated! We had a few minutes to sneak into our house and I was able to grab a few belongings before heading over to my sister's house. How do you grab a lifetime of memories in just moments? I didn't have time to think or reflect, and was just on automatic mode, grabbing my hard drive, home videos, and clothes for the boys. As I drove away from my house, I honestly thought it was the last time I would see it standing. The funny thing is, I was okay with that because in my backseat I had what was most important to me, and that was my two boys! Everything else was just "stuff" and could easily be replaced. Fortunately, our house was saved and we were able to return home the next day. Thank you Jen and Scott for providing us with a place to stay. I am so blessed to have family and friends to step in and help and offer support in a time of crisis, and am so lucky to have a home to come back too!

Weekend at the Cabin

We spent last weekend up at the "Vincent Lodge", enjoying all the beautiful fall colors and relaxing! We invited G-ma Trudi and her dog Lilly to come up with us, and we all had a great time. We went four wheeling, spent some time at the Smith and Moorehouse reservoir skipping rocks, had great food and wine, went on nature hikes, and I searched all over hoping to see a moose that lives in the area. We did have some deer come up to the cabin, and fortunately didn't run into the bear that had been seen around there the previous week! Thanks you guys for letting us use your place, next time I might just stay up there and hibernate for the winter! Little did I know what was waiting for us when we got home...!!

Fall on the Farm

While Logan was off track, I tried to fit in as many fall activities with the boys as I could and one of the places I love to go to every year is Wheeler Farm. I love all the history there, and the scenery is beautiful! I still remember going there when I was young and feeding the ducks and geese, and taking the hay wagon around the farm, and they still have the same tree house for kids to climb up in!

This past weekend was the Utah BMX State Championship Race and Logan won! I don't know who was more excited, Logan or Anthony. He's worked so hard this year and has come so far since starting in January. We are so proud of him and all he has accomplished and are looking forward to the indoor season starting in November. "Fund Run" at school

Logan participated in another fund run at school, where they raise money for their school depending on how many laps they can run around the field. I'm terrible at asking people for dontations, and unfortunately I didn't raise any money (shhh!), but I think it's a wonderful idea to get the kids outdoors for some exercise and have fun doing it. I had tried to prepare Logan ahead of time, telling him to start off slow so that he could run for longer, but as soon as the whistle blew, the race was on and all the kids ran their hardest for the first five minutes and ended up walking for 15 minutes!

Starting School

Both Logan and Sawyer are now in school. Logan started first grade (!) last month and loves it, his teacher is Ms. Paskett and I'm very impressed with her so far. It was hard at first to adjust having him gone all day (from 8:00 until 3:45), and I still feel a little guilty when I do something fun with Sawyer during the day, but overall it's been nice to have some time for myself. Sawyer started preschool two days a week, his teacher is Ms. Whitney. Although bashful at times, he loves going and wishes he could go to school every day like Logan. He loves show and tell, but whispers to the teacher what to tell the class about what he brought. He loves singing songs he has learned and showing off his art projects. He has even memorized a poem Logan needed to learn for school and can recite it perfectly. I'm pretty sure he'll be reading soon since he is like a sponge and absorbs everything that Logan is learning. I've worked to establish a routine for after school which includes homework assignments and reading, then off to bmx practice. I love watching my boys grow up and learn new things, their future is endless!

Well the month of August is just about over, and with that the end of summer is near. This one has been the fastest one yet! Hopefully we will have a few months before the cold weather hits again. I am actually looking forward to fall, because I love all the beautiful fall outdoor colors and I enjoy fall activities. We've been busy this month with establishing a nightly routine involving homework, reading, and getting to bed early. Both Logan and Sawyer love school, Logan has already learned so much and Sawyer wishes he could go every day. I've enjoyed some time to myself and have picked up running, which has been great for me. My sister and I just turned another year older, but I feel like I'm in the best shape of my life!

We lost our first "baby", Jake, on Saturday August 8th. He had been sick for awhile, and was suffering. Nine years went by so fast, I wasn't ready to say goodbye. I still can't believe he is gone, I was just so use to having him around. I know he is in a better place now where he can run around without feeling any pain, waiting to greet all of us when it's our turn to go to heaven. Goodbye Jake, you brought so much to our lives and you will never be forgotten!

July was a very busy month for us, not only did Logan finish Kindergarten, but he started first grade! That only left us three weeks to do all the activities of summer. We were able to go boating, played with cousins at the park, went swimming, bmx races, luau party, a trip to the cabin, splash pads, playing at the neighborhood beach, and got a new puppy!

Getaway to the Vincent Cabin

We spent this past weekend at Jen and Scott's cabin enjoying some four-wheeling, hiking, fishing, and most importantly-relaxing! It was so great to get away for a few days before Logan started back at school. The boys have so much fun playing together, and I enjoy hanging out with the girls~Kensley and Jen. Enzo had fun with Kirby, trying to get him to play with him. The boys absolutely love it up there, and are already asking when we can go again. Thanks you guys for another fun time up there!

We (Anthony) decided it was time to get a new puppy since our dog, Jake, is getting old and we're not sure how much longer he is going to be around. Perfect time to get a puppy I guess?! Anthony came home from work on friday with a 13 week old white boxer puppy. It was hard to get mad at him when I saw the little guy, and the boys were sooo excited. It's been over nine years since I trained a puppy, but so far he's been pretty good with the potty training, chewing on furniture and the boys' toys, preferring instead my shoes and pillows. We named him ENZO, which means "house ruler" in old German (which I'm not sure is a good thing or not). Jake isn't too sure of him yet, but will tolerate him as long as he doesn't eat his food or climb all over him. Poor Jake, all he wants to do is sleep and relax in his old age, and now he has a fiesty puppy to live with. Although it is hard to admit, but getting a puppy right now has been a great distraction for me, and might help with my perceived lonliness coming up next week with Logan starting school all day, and Sawyer starting preschool next month. I now have another baby in the house to take care of!

Summer fun!

We've been having a blast spending some time outdoors and enjoying the summer sun! We've gone a few times to the lake and beach by our house, gone to the park, enjoyed a hawaiian luau at the Vincents, and this past weekend went out with our friends boating on the lake-where we experienced a sudden hail storm and pouring rain of all things! Our summer started late, but we've been able to do some fun things before Logan starts back at school in a few weeks!

BMX Nationals

We spent the fourth of July weekend down at the BMX track where they were having National races. Logan raced his heart out both Saturday and Sunday, and walked away with TWO first place finishes for his age group! The trophy's are as big as he is, and the wins advanced him from novice to intermeditate status. We are so proud of all Logan has accomplished this past year, way to go Logan!!

Yea, summer is finally here!!! We have been enjoying this warm weather, and have been able to do some fun things outdoors! Logan has only one more week of Kindergarten, and then will have three weeks off before he starts first grade, and Sawyer will be starting preschool in August. Where does the time go, I can't believe how big my boys are getting! We've been busy with Logan's BMX racing, and we're looking forward to National's next week for him.

We started BMX racing with the boys this month, and that has been keeping us busy. I am so looking forward to warmer weather in June so we can do some more fun activities outdoors.

Las Vegas

Anthony and I took the boys down to sunny Las Vegas last week while Logan was off track. We spent the first day and night at Circus Circus (I can only handle one night there) and went to the Adventuredome amusement park and the Midway to play games-the boys had a blast! Continuing the "tourist" theme, the next day we went on the strip and took the boys to the M & M museum and Coca Cola Factory, went to the Hard Rock Cafe and the MGM to look at the lions, and attempted to ride the roller coaster at New York, New York-Logan wasn't tall enough so maybe next year! We spent the rest of our time at the Aliante Station, which is right by Grandma and Grandpa's house. The weather was so nice and warm, we spend two days out at the pool all day, and had fun visiting with Grandma and Grandpa K, aunt Nina and Kevin. It was so nice to get out of town for a few days to see my family and enjoy some spring weather, which we haven't been having here. We came back refreshed and relaxed!

Easter

The weather didn't cooperate with us this year for Easter, producing a snow storm the night before the big day, but the Easter Bunny was able to hide Easter eggs inside for the boys to find. We decorated eggs the night before, and Logan and Sawyer were up at six thirty in the morning excited to see what the Easter Bunny had brought them. I had another scavenger hunt as I did last year, for the boys to find their Easter baskets and surprise. This year we got them each a new scooter and a few new toys to play with. They had another easter egg hunt at church later in the morning and then we went over to the Vincent's new house for Easter dinner and to visit with family.

It seems the last few months our lives have been consumed with BMX Racing. We've had a blast every other weekend watching Logan improve around the track. I've never seen a sport better suited for Logan, he has no fear being out on the track, racing. This past weekend was the state championship and final weekend for the indoor racing this year. He placed second in his division and received a huge trophy. He was so excited and we were so proud of him and all that he has accomplished in just two short months of racing. Sawyer has also received a few trophys in the "big wheel" division with the help of Logan pushing him around the track. He is getting the feel of the dips and bumps, and we are hoping he will be able to ride and race when he turns four. We are all looking forward to outdoor racing starting up in May, so anyone can come on out and help us cheer our little racer on!

BMX Racing

This year we've decided to get Logan into BMX Racing, and he's been having a blast! This is a sport that just comes natural for him, since he's been riding his bike since he was three. We've been having so much fun watching him and cheering him on. His best friends Hunter and Indy are also racing, another fun activity for us parents to get involved in together. They have races about every 2-3 weeks, and this weekend he made it to the finals in his age group. I honestly don't know who gets more excited for the races, Anthony or Logan!

Christmas 2009

We has a wonderful and relaxing Christmas day. We went to the Christmas Eve service at our church and come home and had dinner~Clam Chowder, yummy! We all then watched a movie together, "The Christmas Story" and I actually had the boys in bed by nine! We had everything ready for Santa, including food for the reindeer, and said goodbye to our elf Charlie. The boys were up at six the next morning waiting to open presents. Santa was good this year, or should I say the boys were good, because they got alot of fun presents. Sawyer loved all his new transformers, and Logan got a new BMX bike so he could start racing. It was so nice to be home this year and not have to work on Christmas Eve as I did last year, which turned out to be a nightmare! Later we went over to the Vincents for Christmas dinner and to open presents from the family. What a great and memorable Christmas day!

We've enjoyed visits from our elf Charlie, a visit to see Santa, looking for elves at Gardner Village, Christmas concerts and programs at church, baking cookies and decorating a gingerbread house, visits with grandparents, seeing Santa's reindeer at Thanksgiving Point, looking at Christmas lights, snowmobiling and sleeding at the Vincent cabin, and dancing all night on New Year's Eve. I'm exhausted!

Our elf "Charlie"

We've had a visitor this holiday season, sent from Santa, to watch the boys and make sure they are being good. We named him Charlie, and he is one of Santa's elves. Every night after we go to bed, he flies to the North Pole and talks to Santa about how Logan and Sawyer behaved that day, and comes back down to our house and hides in a different place. The boys have had a blast every morning running around to find where Charlie is hiding. I must thank Santa next time I see him, because the boys have been behaving so well when Charlie is here. I wonder if he could visit year round?!

The Elves at Gardner Village

My sister and I took all the kids today to see the elves at Gardner Village. I have always wanted to go and see them, and knowing how cute the witches are there around Halloween, I knew it would be cute~and we weren't disappointed! The weather wasn't too cold, and the boys kept warm running around looking for the elves. We all enjoyed a holiday treat at the bakery afterwards, gingerbread men of course!

Gingerbread House

I have learned from past years, so this year I bought a gingerbread house that was already made and just needed the icing and candies put on it. I was always so frustrated at the house because it wouldn't stand up and the roof would slide off, this year was actually enjoyable and the end product really looked like a gingerbread house. The boys had fun putting it together, and really didn't eat that much candy!

Visit from Gma and Gpa K

Every year right before Christmas Grandma and Grandpa K come up to visit for a few days, and we always get together for dinner at either our house or the Vincents. This year it was our turn to host and we all enjoyed dinner, great company, and all the grandkids were able to open their "prechrismas" presents that gma and gpa bring for them every year, which always includes matching pajamas~so cute! Their visit was short, but I was so thankful that they had good weather to drive in.

I'm a little behind on my blog, but I wanted to share some pictures of our Chrismas Tree which we put up the day after Thanksgiving. The boys are old enough now that they are able to help out, but to be honest I go back over what they have done if they are not watching because Sawyer puts them all on one branch and Logan put his all on one side. It's the making memories that count, and I have sooo many fond memories with my family at Christmas time that I want to create as much as I can with my boys. This year Anthony put up lights all around the trees in the front and the back yard, so our house looks very festive inside and out!

Fun in the snow!

I've been trying to embrace winter this year so that maybe it won't seem as long and miserable as it did last year for me. So far we've enjoyed playing outside in the snow making a "snowball fort" and a good attempt at a snowman. The boys have also gone sleeding at a nearby park, and of course I've already done my share of shoveling and plowing our driveway. I must admit, it hasn't been that bad yet, although it isn't even officially winter until tomorrow! I do love having a "White Christmas"!

This year for Thanksgiving, we went over to the Vincents to have dinner with my family. It was so nice to spend the afternoon and evening with loved ones, and the dinner was terrific! We all enjoyed watching "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles"~a true classic movie! This week we reconnected with Anthony's mom and Logan and Sawyer's grandma~Trudi. We are so thankful for having her back in our lives and look forward for the boys to get to know her! This year I am also thankful for my family, as I always am, but also that I have a job that enables me to provide food on the table, extra food in the pantry, a beautiful home to live in, and clothes to keep us warm this winter. My boys are happy, healthy, and growing~could I ask for anything more?!

Sawyer turns 3!

Sawyer turned three yesterday, and we had a "Curious George" birthday party for him here at home and invited family over to help us celebrate! We enjoyed lunch, ice cream and cake, presents, and a game~which I must say the adults enjoyed more than the kids! Sawyer loved playing with his cousins, and he's been having a blast playing with all his new toys. I just can't believe my "baby" is three now, he seems so grown up. He's had a big year~he's potty trained, in a big bed, and has a big boy attitude! We love having Sawyer in our life and look forward to a fun year and exciting year for him!

Wheeler Farm

Jen and I picked the perfect day to take the kids to Wheeler Farm for lunch and to have some fun running around with each other. We had record warm temperatures for the boys to see all the animals, and to play in all the fallen leaves. I love it there, and enjoy going there a few times a year with the boys. We saw tiny piglets and a huge momma pig, fed the goats and horses (leaves which they seemed to like), and we even gathered up some leaves so that they could all jump into the pile. What a beautiful and fun fall day~wish we could have more days like today!

First Annual Tedesco Halloween Party

This year we decided to host a halloween party. We already have tons of decorations, and still have the "haunted" room downstairs set up from Logan's birthday party last year, so it didn't take much to get ready. We invited friends, neighbors, and family over~the only requirement was everyone had to wear a costume! Anthony shaved his head and was a punk rocker, I was St Pauly girl, Logan was a commando, and Sawyer was spiderman. How fun it was to see everyone dress up and have some fun! I'm already trying to think of something to be for next years party! Thanks everyone for coming, hope you all had a good time!

Logan's 6th Birthday Party

This year for his birthday, Logan decided he wanted to have a sleep over with his friends. We invited his closest friends~Hunter, Indy, and Maddox~over for a fun "Tony Hawk" birthday celebration. I planned a little scavenger hunt around the house and yard (to tire them out a little), we had pizza, and opened presents, had ice cream and cake and watched a movie. They all had so much fun together playing with his new toys they were exhausted by the end of the night. Logan had so much fun with his friends, I think his party was a huge success!

Last year I discovered a little pumpkin patch by our house that was so cute and fun for the boys, so this year I was so excited to take my sister and her kids with us to go and pick out their fall pumpkins. The boys all had so much fun pushing their wheelbarrows around looking for the perfect pumpkin, it took awhile because they have hundreds to choose from. They also had a blast running through the little corn maze and playing on all the farm tractors. They even posed for a few pictures with each other and mom. This place is so much fun, another yearly tradition for us!

Fun at the "Vincent Lodge"

I took the boys for a quick get away up into the mountains to look at all the beautiful fall colors and to spend the day and night at a beautiful resort called the "Vincent Lodge"~aka Scott and Jen's new cabin! They have a brand new deluxe place up past Oakley, just 1 1/2 hours away from home. We had a blast riding four-wheelers, going on a hike, and searching for wildlife~Scott and I rode right past a huge moose! The boys had so much fun playing with their cousins, and I had so much fun helping Jen decorate and waiting for all the new furniture to arrive. What a fun place to get away to enjoy the beautiful mountains we have here, we can't wait to go up again soon!

The Witches at Gardner Village

Every year I look forward to visiting the Witches at Gardner Village. Since it was such a beautiful fall day, I took the boys there today. The whole place is decorated so cute with all the fall and halloween witches, the boys had fun trying to find where they all were hiding, Logan kept saying we were going on a witch hunt. Following tradition, we ended our visit by going to the delicious bakery for a cookie and doughnut, yummy!

Cowabunga Bay

We decided to enjoy the last part of summer this Labor Day by spending some time at the water park Cowabunga Bay. We had watched it being built last spring, and I had been wanting to take the boys there all summer long, but something always seemed to come up. The boys had a blast sliding on all the slides, swimming in the pool, and floating around the lazy river. What a fun place for kids to go and have fun and cool off in the summer~we will definitely go back again next year! Thanks Jen and Scott for the "passes";)

"Fund Run" at school

Logan's school put on a "fund run" today, which is a way for kids to gather donations for assemblies and field trips by running laps around a track. They ran for twenty minutes, and Logan ran 19 laps-and I didn't hear him complain once! In fact, it looked like he was having a blast! What a fun way for the kids to spend a day at school~way to go!

Sawyer's "big boy" bed

Sawyer is such a big boy! I have been looking for a big boy bed for Sawyer to transition him from his crib, and found the perfect one. Unlike Logan who would jump out of his crib before he turned two, Sawyer had no desire to give his up. My intention was to set up his new bed while keeping him in his crib until he was ready to move, but last night as were we going to bed he climbed up into his new bed. I read him some books, gave him his water, puppies, snuggles and blankets and he was ready to go to sleep. He looked so small in his new big bed, I placed pillows all around so he wouldn't fall out. I kept thinking he would climb out of bed to come find me, as Logan did for months, but I never heard a sound all night long. I checked on him in the morning and sure enough he was sound asleep in the same spot I had left him. What happened to my babies? No matter how hard I try to keep both my boys from growing up, they are changing daily and I am so proud of them!

Lost tooth!

What a week of "first's" we had! Logan started school, Kindergarten, on Tuesday and on Wednesday Logan lost his first baby tooth! It had been loose for awhile, but the last few days it was just hanging on. I told him that he needed to start wiggling it. It only took a few wiggles until it came out. "Oh my gosh, my tooth came out" he yelled from the bathroom! He was soooo excited, jumping up and down, and couldn't wait to show his friends! I was able to capture a few photos and grabbed the video camera to capture his excitement. That night he put his tooth under his pillow, and the tooth fairy came to give him a dollar with a special note, and she even left "fairy dust" in his room! He has another tooth that is loose which I think will be out next month, and the fun begins again!

Logan starts Kindergarten!

Logan had his first day of Kindergarten this past Tuesday. His teacher is Ms. Holliday, who seems really knowledgeable and has lots of experience teaching~I think she will know how to handle Logan and it seemed like he liked her when we met with her on Monday. Logan's good friend and neighbor, Hunter, is also starting school and they are in the same class together. Logan had no hesitation when I dropped him off the first day, he just ran up and stood outside the door waiting for class to start. I hate change, so I think I've had a harder time adjusting to him starting school and being gone in the mornings than he has, and poor Sawyer misses his brother and asks where he is all the time. Next week I am going to let him start to ride the school bus to and from school, something he is very excited about. I just can't believe how fast my baby boy has grown up! I'm just trying to hold onto and treasure every moment I have with my boys!

Las Vegas visit

I took the boys this past week down to Las Vegas to visit with Gma and Gpa "K" and to relax a little before Logan started school. We had a blast swimming all day and watching movies at night, and of course the boys both loved being "spoiled" by grandma and grandpa! Grandpa took both boys to a buffet and a children's discovery museum one day, while I went shopping and had lunch with my mom. We all had a wonderful visit, and came back home relaxed, refreshed, and ready to start school!

Thanksgiving Point Children's Garden

I have heard of the Thanksgiving Point Children's Gardens for awhile now, and surprisingly have never been. Jen and I took the kids there last week, and we were very impressed! The Garden's are absolutely beautiful and they have little areas set aside for kids to do various things~ such as splash around Noah's Ark, walk down into a bear den, building blocks, maze~all set in flowers and gorgeous landscaping! There was so many photo opportunites, but the boys rarely held still long enough for a good picture! If you haven't already been there, I would highly recommend it!

Boating!

We are so fortunate to have friends, who are also our neighbors, who own a boat. They are so nice to invite us to go boating whenever they go out to the lake, so we get to enjoy all the benefits of having a boat without actually owning one! It is one of my favorite things to do, and the boys love it too-especially being pulled on a raft! The time flies when we are out there, we ended up staying nine hours last weekend when we all went. Thanks guys for all the fun and laughs!

Hiking and "camping"!

Every year we "camp" outdoors in our backyard. It's fun for the boys because they get a chance to sleep outside, and it's fun for mom and dad because we have all the convienances of the indoors nearby if needed. This year we went hiking in the hills behind our house in the evening. Logan actually did pretty good until we had to go back down and he kept falling, and Sawyer was lucky enough to be held by dad the whole way. It was beautiful at the top, we were able to see the whole valley from up there. The boys were so tired from the hike, they could barely stay awake for dinner outside and smores afterwards. We had our tent set up by our waterfall and we all actually slept great, even Jake who took over Anthony's sleeping bag in the middle of the night!

Fun at the Beach!

We just discovered a little man-made lake in our neighborhood that just opened a few weeks ago. It's literally five minutes from our house and so much fun, we have already gone twice! They have a little wading area perfect for the boys to wade in and lots of sand to dig and build sand castles with. The best part is I can lay out, relax, and get some sun all while watching the boys have fun at the beach!

2nd annual neighborhood "block party"

Although we get together with our neighbors once or twice a week, last weekend we had our "official" block party with our neighbors and extended neighbors (aka friends). This is when we block off our street to outside traffic and let the kids ride their bikes and scooters and just play together. This year we had a great turn out! We had tons of activities for the kids such as a bouncy water slip and slide, bouncy trampoine, and a long water slide (which I think the adults enjoyed just as much as the kids did!). The party started early in the evening and lasted until the early morning hours, a sign that everyone had a good time!

Fourth of July

This year for the 4th of July we went to the Vincent's for a good ol' summertime bbq with the family. Both my brothers and their girlfriends were there, and my dad and stepmom. The boys got to enjoy some fun sparklers that Shokey had bought for them, and we even did a few fireworks that were illegal in Draper (shhh..). It was so nice to see everyone and relax a little while all the boys played with each other, and the food was delicious! We even made it home in time to watch all the fireworks in the valley from our front yard!

Fishing!

Anthony and I took the boys fishing this past Sunday to a little pond up by our house called "The Cove". I've been wanting to go there for awhile to see if the boys could catch their first fish. They were so excited to catch one, but I was worried they would lose interest when they realized they may have to be patient and wait awhile. We packed a lunch and snacks to keep them entertained, but we didn't have to wait too long before Logan had a big fish on his pole~ a huge catfish! We were told by others who fish that pond often that it was the biggest fish they had seen there. Logan was so proud of his catch, but disappointed that we didn't keep it-we gave it to some people fishing near us b ut not before I got a few pictures!

Herriman Days

We invited Jen and the kids over, and Gma and Gpa "T" to come and celebrate Herriman Days with us this year. The boys had so much fun there last year, I was really looking forward to going again, and we were not diappointed. The boys had a blast on all the rides and slides and activities they had. Logan and Maddox had their whole face painted, Logan was a "lizard" and Maddox was a "spiderman", and all four boys got a tatoo! The weather was perfect, and we went late in the afternoon before the evening rush so it wasn't crowded at all. We then all came back to our house for a barbeque and watched the fireworks later that night from a neighbors porch-perfect view!

Splash Park

We're finally enjoying some nice warm temperatures, so my sister and I decided to cool off by taking the kids to our local splash park. Logan and Maddox had the most fun just riding their scooters around, but Parker and Sawyer enjoyed getting wet in the sprinklers. I must say though that the boys enjoyed just sitting on the towel eating snacks the best! We then went back to our house where we had lunch and the boys were able to jump on the trampoline and play with toys together. What a fun way to spend a summer afternoon with kids!

We took another trip down to Vegas this past week to visit Gma and Gpa "K" and to enjoy some sunny warm weather. It was so nice to get away from all the rain we've been having here, and the weather was perfect in Las Vegas~usually the high in mid-June would be in the 100's, but we enjoyed 80 degree weather every day. The boys had a blast swimming in my parents swimming pool everyday and every chance they got. In addition to swimming, we also toured the Hoover Dam, visited with Aunt Nina and Kevin to see their new house, went out dancing one night with friends, went shopping, layed out and relaxed for five days. I wish Vegas wasn't so far away, because we would go down every weekend if we could!

I love those warm days when the boys play outdoors all day long with neighborhood friends. They jump on the trampoline, play in the waterfall, run through sprinklers, play in the clubhouse, dig in the sandbox, ride bikes and scooters, and just have fun being boys! We love our neighbors and the parents enjoy hanging outdoors together in the summer almost as much as the kids do!

Baseball

This year Logan is playing Little League Baseball and he loves it! His team is called the "Bats", they play two nights a week, and with Anthony as assistant coach, he has really learned alot about the game and working together as a team. I hope he continues to have an interest in baseball, and sports in general, because I love to watch him play. I am looking forward to getting Sawyer involved in some sports soon-but for now he's been having fun cheering on his big brother!

Field trip to the Zoo!

This week Logan took a field trip to the zoo with his preschool. It seemed like almost every school in town also took a field trip that day, because the zoo was filled with school children! He had fun running around, playing with his friends, and took a few minutes to actually look at some animals (what do you expect when you're at the zoo with all your friends)! The weather was perfect, and the animals were all pretty active since it was early in the morning. We were able to see the elephants eat breakfast and the black bears run around playing. Sawyer and Parker enjoyed the lion the best (who cares if it was just a drinking fountain!) Logan, Maddox, and their friend Bode had a blast climbing on everything and fighting who would ride in the stoller next. It was a crazy but fun day~ I am looking forward to going again soon when it can just be our family on a Sunday afternoon when it won't be so crowded with screaming, running kids!

Mother's Day

What a wonderful Mother's Day I had! It started with a Mother's Day Tea the boys had at their school on Friday. Both of their classes had the children sing songs, had lunch prepared for all the mom's, and little mothers day gifts that the kids had made-so sweet! Sunday morning Anthony prepared a delicious mother's day breakfast of homemade eggs benedict-yummm! We then went to church, and then went to the Tracey Aviary at Liberty Park. I love to look at all the birds and hadn't been there in about three years so I was amazed at all they had done. We then had lunch downtown at Cafe Trang, the boys were amazingly good and Logan loved the food-I think he ate more than I did. What a beautiful day it was, and the boys were so cute all day~they really tried to get along and kept hugging me and telling me "happy mudders day"! Why can't everyday be Mother's Day?!

Build-A-Bear

In following tradition of when my nephew Maddox turned three and my sister took him and Logan to the Build-A-Bear workshop to pick out a bear, this time she took my nephew Parker and Sawyer out there to celebrate Parker turning three. The boys had a blast picking out their bear, filling him up, giving him a bath, picking out an outfit, and finding a name for their new little friends! Sawyer named his Diego and he is a firefighter bear, and Parker named his Clifford and he is dressed as a racecar driver. Thanks again Aunt Jen, Sawyer had so much fun and he loves his new bear!

Easter Day

We had a busy fun-filled Easter Day here at the Tedesco household. The morning started with a little easter egg hunt in the house. Poor Sawyer just followed Logan around, chasing him trying to find an egg. He was able to find a few that Logan missed. We then went outside in the backyard for another Easter egg hunt. This time Sawyer had the hang of it and started in a different direction from Logan. They both ended up with tons of eggs and therefore candy-the Easter Bunny was certainly generous this year! We then went back indoors where I had planned an Easter Scavenger Hunt throughout the whole house where the boys got to search for their Easter Baskets and a special surprise-a new bike for Sawyer and a new scooter for Logan! We then went to church for a great Easter Service, where the kids all had yet another Easter Egg Hunt outdoors afterwards! It was such a beautiful day we decided to head to the park after church where the boys could try out their new bike and scooter and play for awhile. When we came home we put up the trampoline and played and relaxed the rest of the day, and we had a very yummy traditional Easter Dinner that night. We all went to bed exhausted from such a fun-filled busy day!

Sunny Las Vegas

We took a trip to Las Vegas to visit my Mom and Stan since they just moved back down there. We couldn't have picked a better time to go because the weather here was snowy and cold the whole time we were gone! We did the tourist thing and spent some time on the strip going to Circus Circus to play some games, and went to the Mirage and walked around the pool where I use to work (oh what memories!), and enjoyed watching the dolphins, white tigers, and white lions at the Secret Garden. The boys all went down to the race track and were able to sit in a race car, and then went to Nellis Air Force Base where they were able to see the tanks and airplanes, and even hold a rifle. It was so nice to relax and to visit family while we were there, and are already planning our next trip down this summer!

We have been fortunate to enjoy a few days of spring-like weather here, and we were able to take a trip to Las Vegas to visit family and enjoy some outdoor activities. Welcome Spring!

Even though the first official day of spring isn't until tomorrow, we celebrated it today by heading over to the Draper Park with the Vincent clan. The boys all had a blast playing with each other- swinging, riding their bikes and scooters, and running around. Jen and I were able to visit a little while trying to keep track of all the boys since it seemed like every mom in Draper had the same idea we had and the park was packed. Baby Kensley watched all the activity and enjoyed some sun-she didn't make a sound the whole time! Logan kept asking on the way home if we could go again in "two days". Hopefully the weather will stay as nice as it's been and we can do just that! We are so glad that Spring has finally arrived!!!

Baseball practice

In preparation of Logan starting Little League Baseball next month, we decided to head out to a local park that has a baseball diamond to practice. He loves to hit the ball and run around the bases while Sawyer and Jake chase him, and he has really improved in his throwing this year. We are looking forward to going to his games and cheering on his team! The boys also had fun playing on the playground they had there, sliding down and slide and swinging. It was just nice for us to be able to get out and enjoy some warm weather for a change since we all have a little bit of spring fever.

Logan has been bugging us for awhile now to get some sort of new pet that he can call his own. He has shown us how responsible he can be by feeding Jake every morning and night, surprisingly he usually remembers and never complains about doing it. Upon doing some research, Anthony decided on the perfect pet for Logan- Bearded Dragons (lizards). I had never heard of them, and was not too thrilled when he "surprised" me by getting not one, but two of them for Logan. Their names are Max and Ruby. The best part is they live in Logan's bedroom-lovely. I am still not too thrilled with having two reptiles in the house, but Logan has been having fun holding them and feeding them (I won't even go into the details of what they eat!). I guess as long as there aren't any snakes in the house (yet), I can't complain!

Things really slowed down around here this month, compared to the last few! We've enjoyed a couple of nice days where the boys were able to play outside, but otherwise we've been doing things indoors. I know it's still a little early, but I am so looking forward to warmer weather!

Fun in the snow and sun

Logan, Sawyer, and I are totally sick of being indoors this winter! I have ran out of things to keep the boys busy during the day, so we decided to head outdoors and play in the backyard. What a nice day it was to play in the snow and enjoy some sun. They had fun sledding down our hill and running around chasing each other. We also played frisbee, kickball, and football, and even had lunch outside. I was even able to get Jake off the couch and come outside with us! Whew- we were all worn out when we were done, but we all enjoyed the fresh air! It makes me look forward to spring even more-which can't come fast enough!

Bowling!

We decided to take the boys bowling last week for the first time. Even though he has never been, Logan felt like he already knew how to bowl since he plays on Wii all the time and is considered "pro status". Sad to say, he actually did better than me! Sawyer was even able to participate because they have a ramp you can place the ball on and side rails, so he would just push the ball down the ramp-he even got a strike! We all had a fun time and it was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon in the winter!
